Christmas Visit 2006
Following the successful summer
visit the Perth Link was able to invite a second group of eleven
children and a leader to spend four weeks in the Perth area over
Christmas and New Year. We welcomed three new host families who were
hosting for the first time. A Christmas visit followed roughly the
same pattern as in the summer but due to the time of year many of
our outdoor activities had to be modified. Visits to the seaside
were organised but we had no volunteers to go swimming at St Andrews
beach! To compensate we organised swimming at Moness Country Club,
Hilton Dunkeld House Hotel and Perth Leisure Pool, which were much
warmer. Again we enjoyed hospitality from Noah’s Arc, the Lord
Provost of Perth, Tayside Police at Forfar, Perth Fire Station. The
Rotary Club of Perth St Johns took the children curling followed by
a lunch and we organised a visit to the Pantomime that was enjoyed
by all. Again our thanks go to everyone who contributed to the
success of the visit.
As always dental and eye tests were carried out and any remedial
work done. Our thanks to Keith McFarlane who attended to all the
dental work and again to Specsaver Opticians.
Everyone considered the Christmas visit a great success and I am
sure these children returned home with many happy memories of their
host families and the way in which we celebrate this special time of
the year.
