Fundraising for Kids

Chernobyl Children Life Line is a voluntary organisation and the cost of bringing groups of children to the U.K. for health breaks is the responsibility of the local links of the Charity. Consequently, all links of the Charity are continually fundraising to pay for the children’s visits. At present it costs about £400 per child to bring a group from Belarus to Central Scotland. The bulk of this is the cost of airfares from Belarus to London and subsequently from London to a Scottish airport.

How this money is raised varies from small cash donations, coffee mornings, collecting cans, concerts, etc, etc. The methods are diverse, varied and only constrained by ones imagination. Cash donations, no matter how small, are always welcome and every penny donated to Chernobyl Children Life Line goes towards the cost of airfares.

For those of you browsing this website - perhaps you have an original fundraising idea which you would like to share with us. Perth Link is always on the lookout for new fundraising ideas so please drop us an email or call us on the contact numbers at the end of this page. We hope to publish fundraising ideas on this website for the benefit of new links who may be just starting to fundraise.

To start the ball rolling we publish three ideas, which the Perth Link has found to be very successful.

Be a Smartie Appeal

People are given a FREE tube of “smarties” and, having eaten the free sweets, are asked to fill the empty “smartie” tube with 20 pence coins or other loose change and return the tube to the Link treasurer. A label is stuck on the tube with the CCLL logo and instructions for returning the tube. The launch of the appeal should be given maximum publicity in the local press, church newsletters, a display in the local shopping mall, etc. This has proved to be a very successful appeal for Perth Link – An outlay of about £150 for “smarties” and labels has generated over £6300 !!!

Bucket Collections at Football Matches

Approach your local football team and enquire if they are willing to allow a charity collection before the game. One hours collecting by 10 members of the Perth Link as supporters arrived at St.Johnstone’s football ground raised just over £500.

Corporate Sponsorship

Many large companies have schemes where if an employee is involved in raising money for charity the company will match whatever the employee raises. Other companies may have schemes where the company will donate grants to charities proposed by one of their employees.

Perth Link has been successful on several occasions in this area of fundraising.

If you have any ideas for how we can raise funds or are wanting to become involved in fundraising for the Chernobyl Children Life Line Perth Link then please contact Mike Christie on 01738 552668 or by email.
